VAT and Excise Tax Practice Leader
He is an advocate, a tax advisor, and a judge of the disciplinary tribunal at the Mazowieckie Branch of the Polish Chamber of Tax Advisors. Jacek is a member of the VAT and Excise Tax Team of the Ożóg Tomczykowski Law Firm. He participated in the preparation of expert opinions for the Polish Diet (Sejm) on levying an excise tax on electricity (involving e.g. preparation of a draft amendment to the definition of an end buyer introducing a tax on electricity consumed by electricity producers and purchased from external entities) and on coal products.
In his ongoing business practice he advises entities from different sectors of the economy, in particular the automotive and real estate sectors (apartment owners' associations, housing co-operatives, developers), financial sector (banks, leasing companies, insurance companies), energy sector (fuels, lubricants and gas), and electricity sector (companies holding licences to distribute, trade in, transmit and generate electricity). Jacek participated in consolidation processes and tax review projects of the largest Polish companies dealing with distribution and trading in electric power. He also was a team manager and otherwise participated in a number of projects reviewing correctness of VAT settlements in companies, including in an energy (fuel) and electric power company, and supervised implementation of electronic invoices by a car distributor. Jacek has invaluable experience in representing taxpayers in tax and inspection proceedings, including before administrative courts. In addition he is a VAT, excise tax, and penal fiscal law trainer. In 2019 he ranked first in the "VAT Tax" category and third in "Excise Tax" category in the Ranking of Tax Firms and Advisors of "Dziennik Gazeta Prawna" daily. He also ranked first in "Excise Tax" category in the Ranking of Tax Advisors of "Rzeczpospolita" daily.
